Plot
As relief efforts in Metropolis are underway, Green Lantern carries the body of Atom Smasher away, and Shazam continues following Godzilla, Batman promises Superman that he will find a way to fix the situation. Wonder Woman comforts Batman, saying there was nothing they could've done. Despite Batman's insistence, Flash and Hawkgirl tell him that Superman's cells are not regenerating in the Yellow Sun chamber and they can't find a pulse. Batman insists Superman is still alive, with Wonder Woman and Flash lamenting they all need time to process everything. Batman notices the Dreamstone is gone in addition to Orion's Sled and the Mother Box, with Wonder Woman deducing that Toyman took it. The League theorize that the Boom Tube took the Legion of Doom to an alternate universe and the Dreamstone brought them back to their own. Batman orders for Toyman's capture so they can find the Dreamstone and send the monsters back home. The Flash sets off to find him, with Cyborg offering his assistance. Cyborg reports to Wonder Woman that the last-known transmission point for the beacon drawing the monsters is no longer transmitting. When asked where the monsters are, Cyborg and Batwoman explains that Scylla submerged in the Atlantic before going off the grid and Behemoth is en route to North America. However, Godzilla is heading for the Fortress of Solitude and, by extension, Superman. Batman urges the League to move Superman as Hawkgirl wonders if he's still alive. Flash asks if Supergirl can confirm his status, with Wonder Woman saying she's not here, hopefully for a good reason.
On Skull Island, Supergirl continues staring Kong in the eyes, much to Green Arrow's annoyance. Supergirl states how, despite Kong's territoriality, he's not like Godzilla. She realizes Superman is in danger and tells Green Arrow to keep an eye on Kong, stating he's not a threat but he needs to stay out of his way. As Supergirl leaves, Kong notices a group of ninjas in the tree, with Green Arrow offering to check it out. He soon realizes their true identity: The League of Assassins. Green Arrow fights valiantly but is soon overwhelmed by the assassins before Kong intervenes, dispersing them. Green Arrow notices a large ship at the bottom of a cliff and jumps down to investigate it.
Meanwhile, at the Watchtower, Wonder Woman and Hawkgirl are reviewing footage of Superman's fight with Godzilla to figure out what the monster shot that defeated him, which left residual traces of radiation. They are soon met with Lois Lane, who was brought to the station by Green Lantern. Lois goes to Superman's chamber and reveals that she found his proposal ring in his jacket pocket. She tearfully says yes and begs for Superman to get better because she really wants to wear it. The Justice League gets an emergency call from Aquaman and Green Lantern offers to bring Lois back home. However, Lois tells him she'll be staying in the station. As the Justice League leaves, Lois catches sight of security footage of the Legion of Doom's incursion to the Fortress of Solitude, noticing Toyman with the Dreamstone. Lois makes a phone call and requests Lex Luthor's actions over the past 24 hours, noting that she's looking for a red stone.
Back in their headquarters, the Legion of Doom discusses their plan to eliminate the Justice League. Black Manta reigns the excited Legion in, however, stating they have a plan underway and they will need to be patient. Killer Croc, Captain Cold, Giganta, and Black Manta have an argument on who's in charge. Giganta snarks that they're waiting for Lex Luthor to tell them what to do next, but Black Manta retorts that they're waiting for Deathstroke and Cheetah, making them in charge. Cheetah and Deathstroke investigate the battle site at Metropolis and pull up Lexcorps Satellite imagery footage to search for Godzilla and Toyman. They find footage of Toyman luring Godzilla away with the Dreamstone. Meanwhile, Lex Luthor and Mercy Graves are in the process of building a gigantic Godzilla-esque robot. With the beacon's signature having been successfully reproduced, Luthor wants to hit the ground running once all of the mecha's data has been processed. When asked if it's a good idea to hard pivot Project Atlas, which was already up to Lexcorp's highest standards, Lex notes the innovations of this otherworld technology: A "Mechanized Titan" capable of defeating monsters. The reason Luthor is so hasty is Godzilla; his concern for maintaining natural order means he can't be manipulated into destroying the Justice League despite his killing of Superman. The Legion of Doom can't wait for the monsters to do their bidding; They need to be budged.
In Atlantis, Wonder Woman, Flash, and Green Lantern catch sight of Tiamat eating a giant squid. Aquaman and Mera arrive and order the others to keep Tiamat from breaching Atlantis's dome. He claims Atlantis did nothing to challenge Tiamat and his attempts to communicate with it failed, meaning he can't control it. As the League ponders their intentions, they reckon something must be drawing it to Atlantis, likely the same beacon that called the other monsters away from the cities. The League suspects Lex Luthor or Toyman as they continue battling the creature. Tiamat expels a purple ink from its mouth before igniting an electrical storm in it. Cyborg contacts Wonder Woman as the League holds back the storm, confirming that their is a beacon drawing in the monsters before warning them of Godzilla's arrival. Godzilla attacks Tiamat and the two battle. Flash begins to leave to find the beacon as Tiamat slams Godzilla into the dome, cracking it. As their fight intensifies, Mera tells Aquaman that it's time for the "fail-safe". Flash tries to get Wonder Woman and Green Lantern out of the crossfire before they're all sent flying by Tiamat's tail fin. Aquaman reluctantly agrees and heads down into a nearby chasm to release their fail-safe: The Kraken. Meanwhile, Green Arrow infiltrates the ship and finds a massive reptillian skull inside.

- The Kraken unleashed by Aquaman in this issue is the third Monsterverse character to bear this name, after Na Kika (introduced as "Kraken" in Godzilla: King of the Monsters - The Official Movie Novelization) and the main antagonist of Skull Island.
