King For a Day is the sixteenth issue of Godzilla: Rulers of Earth. It was released on September 24, 2014.

Description

"Godzilla comes face-to-face with his deadliest opponent yet! The end game of the series' most conniving foe reaches its zenith. Will Godzilla be able to survive the day? And will the Earth want him to? The stunning climax to this four-part story is here."

Plot

After their crash landing, the CKR forces emerge unharmed but find themselves surrounded by armed Russian special forces holding weapons. Back on the Cryog ship, Rhizon is informed about the Mechagodzillas returning to base by Minette and Mallory. Rhizon hooks the twins up to a machine to interface with Mecha-King Ghidorah and activates the remaining Mechagodzillas. Allie and Steven Woods are able to get in contact with the higher-ups in Washington, and Godzilla and Mecha-King Ghidorah continue their battle. Over in Russia, the CKR team encounters the badly damaged Kiryu. As Anguirus walks away from the crashed mech, an explosion goes off nearby. The CKR team stays put while the Russian operatives begin investigating what happened. Mecha-King Ghidorah drops Godzilla onto the floor of the facility and continues relentlessly attacking him. Minette and Mallory soon realize that they are no longer controlling him. Godzilla is held down by several Mechagodzilla units while Mecha-King Ghidorah shoots beams at Godzilla, weakening him. The Mechagodzillas charge toward Godzilla but he attacks them first and slams Mecha-King Ghidorah onto the ground. Godzilla fires his atomic breath, but a few more Mechagodzillas begin attacking him, giving Mecha-King Ghidorah an opportunity to attack Godzilla some more. Godzilla manages to fire his atomic breath at Mecha-King Ghidorah, causing the twins to bleed from their eyes and shake rapidly. As Godzilla fires his atomic breath again at Mecha-King Ghidorah, more Mechagodzillas surround him. Suddenly, Anguirus arrives and helps Godzilla defeat the Mechagodzillas and force Mecha-King Ghidorah to flee. Anguirus and Godzilla both roar victoriously as Mecha-King Ghidorah disappears into the void of space. Steven gets in contact with Chavez and he tells him that something's coming to bring him to their location...
