*There is a continuity error with this and "Godzilla: Kingdom of Monsters" involving King Ghidorah. In Kingdom of Monsters, he is depicted as an ancient monster much like his GMK Incarnation and is awakened from a mountain by a monk, only to be slain by Godzilla in Washington D.C. and thus he is turned into Mecha-King Ghidorah by the Cryogs. However, in issue 24 a flashback reveals that Ghidorah is the one who destroyed the Cryogs' homeworld and caused them to invade earth in the first place. Though it possible Ghidorah could've invaded Earth and was sealed away in ancient times, however that begs the question of why would the monk free a violent destructive monster? It is possible that these Ghidorahs are two separate characters, much like the earlier script of Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah where the Ghidorah in the film is a clone of another Ghidorah and even to some extent the unmade The Return of King Ghidorah (Heisei) and Emperor Ghidorah.

Template:Infobox IDW Series/RoE Godzilla: Rulers of Earth (ゴジラ ルーラーズ オブ アース,   Gojira Rūrāzu Obu Āsu) is a comic book series by IDW Publishing, which ran from June 2013 to July 2015. At 25 issues in length, it is the longest-running Godzilla comic in history, one issue longer than Marvel's Godzilla, King of the Monsters. It is also the first American Godzilla comic to be published in Japan, where it was licensed by Phase 6. The series was written by Chris Mowry, who had previously written Godzilla: Legends #4, with art by Matt Frank and Jeff Zornow and colors by Priscilla Tramontano.

Set in the same universe as IDW's previous ongoing titles, Godzilla: Kingdom of Monsters and Godzilla: Ongoing, the plot of Godzilla: Rulers of Earth primarily concerns an alien invasion by a race called the Cryogs, initially supported by the undersea Devonian civilization. At the same time, more and more of Earth's ancient monsters are appearing around the globe.
