Development

Kumasogami was originally going to be a spider god instead of a humanoid. Concept art for this version exists.

History

Heisei era

Orochi, the Eight-Headed Dragon

A minor deity revered by the kingdom of Kumaso, Kumasogami resided in a pool of lava and would emerge periodically to accept sacrifices of young women. Oto, captured by the kingdom's warlord, was to become his next victim until Yamato Takeru and his band of warriors intervened. At first, their rescue seemed futile, as the god easily broke through the gate meant to hold it and shrugged off all their attacks, responding with flaming arrows and a massive molten sword. As he prepared to finish Oto off, Yamato drew power from his sacred jewel, the Yasakani no Magatama, and was able to destroy the creature with a volley of lasers.

Abilities

Weapon Generation

Kumasogami can morph each of his hands into explosive arrows, a bow, or a sword. He prefers to fire the arrows in volleys of three, and seems to be able to generate an unlimited amount of them. However, they are quite slow-moving, and he was unable to land a direct hit on any of his opponents. Likewise, he relies on his overwhelming strength to compensate for his lack of speed with a sword.

Heat Resistance

As a lava-dwelling creature, Kumasogami was largely unaffected by Oto's fireballs.
