Shin Ultraman (シン・ ウルトラマン Shin Urutoraman) is a ultra that will appear in the 2021 Toho/Tsuburaya Productions film, Shin Ultraman. It is the eighth onscreen incarnation of the character.
Name
The name "Ultraman" is an official English transliteration of the name Urutoraman (ウルトラマン), a combination of the English words, 'ultra', spelled in katakana as ウルトラ (urutora) and 'man', spelled in katakana as マン.
Tsuburaya Productions and Toho have officially classified this incarnation of Ultraman as Shin Ultraman (シン・ ウルトラマン Shin Urutoraman), which is also the Japanese title of the film in which it appeared.

On August 1, 2019, Tsuburaya Productions announced that a new Ultraman film directed by Shinji Higuchi was under production.

- The first look at Ultraman's design was not in a trailer, but rather an image during the opening ceremony of Tsuburaya Convention 2019 on December 13.[3]
- Much like Anno and Higuchi's interpretation of Godzilla, Ultraman resembles an earlier concept from his debut outing. While Godzilla has a similar head to the maquette used for the iconic image of Godzilla biting a train, Ultraman is based off Tohl Narita's 1983 painting "The Incarnation of Truth, Justice, and Beauty".[5]
