King Kong in the Microcosmos #6 is a comic book by Editorial América, S.A. It was published circa 1979.

Plot

Voltan falls a few feet through a hole into a deeper layer of the cave. In the Tuties' tomb, Bronson and Bill find the emeralds and rejoice that they will be millionaires. N'conda mutters something which Julie opines isn't "anything good," provoking Bronson into binding their and Tom's arms with rope. Just then, another of Bronson's men rushes into the tomb and reports that the Tuties are letting out a distress signal with their drums. Not far away, Captain Court learns of the situation from some Tuties and sets off toward the tomb. The sound of the drumming reaches Colonel Jensen, who has it decoded by an indigenous recruit named Chungo; after learning that the situation is dire, the colonel requests permission from his superiors to also move in. Yet a third faction waits at the tomb's entrance: Tuties led by the still-living Kalimba, who had merely been playing dead. Bronson emerges from the tomb with his men and the prisoners, and announces to the Tuties that he will kill N'conda if they don't listen to his demands. When two of his men are immediately killed by blowdarts, Bill reminds him that the Tuties don't speak their language, sending him into a panic.

Voltan, Fara, and King Kong search unsuccessfully for escape routes in the new chamber. After helping each other back up through the hole, they notice a promising tunnel which seems to lead toward the surface. Captain Court arrives at the tomb and, following a briefing from Kalimba, orders Bronson to surrender over a megaphone. One of Bronson's men resolves to turn himself in, but doesn't get the chance before Bronson kills him. Bronson reiterates his threat against N'conda, while adding that he will also kill Julie if the police do not leave within five minutes. Court agrees, and tasks Kalimba with speaking to the Tuties. Bronson tells Bill that they will leave the emeralds behind and return for them later—with an army if necessary—and gives Kalimba 15 minutes before they are to depart.

At the end of the tunnel Kong and the aliens spot a hole in the ceiling, but it is too high up for them to reach. In response, Voltan unshrinks the Neutromobile and retrieves three Degravitators for them to use, before shrinking the vehicle once more. As the trio fly up through the hole, Kong reflects on the much-different circumstances of his last meeting with the Degravitators. After touching down in a new area of the cave, they find that it is close enough to the surface to hear a gunshot, and head in the sound's direction in the Neutromobile. Colonel Jensen finally receives authorization to provide aid at the tomb. Tom and Julie delight in Kalimba's survival, having recognized his voice when he conversed with Bronson. Nevertheless, his 15-minute grace period soon expires, and Bronson prepares to move out. Meanwhile, as Kong and the aliens are driving, a bat suddenly swoops in front of them. Swerving to avoid it, the vehicle crashes into the wall and becomes embedded in it. As Voltan and Fara discuss their options, including shattering the dome that covers the cabin, Kong offers to try prying it open.

Colonel Jensen meets Captain Court outside of the village and is filled in on the situation. He suggests that they could ambush Bronson's group if they knew where their getaway vehicle was hidden, and asks his driver Betun to request a search from the Tuties. Kong manages to open the Neutromobile's cabin, allowing him and the aliens to escape. He then directs his strength toward excavating the vehicle, bashing apart the limestone wall. Eventually, enough of the rock is removed to allow Voltan to drive it away from the wall, and the trio resume their search for an exit. Bronson's group proceeds through the jungle with the hostages; though Bronson notices that his men have slowly been disappearing along the journey, he ignores Bill's concerns and insists that the men are likely just deserting. However, Bill is vindicated when they find the men's corpses dangling from a tree. Recognizing it as the work of the Tuties, Bronson declares that he will kill the hostages.

Trivia

  • The speech bubbles on the cover translate to, "That's the only way out, and we don't have the Degravitators with us. It's too high even for King Kong, and we're already short on oxygen." This is similar to dialogue from page 17, which is accompanied by a very similar illustration. However, the lack of Degravitators is never a worry, as the characters immediately retrieve them from the Neutromobile, and their oxygen supply is not mentioned a single time in the issue.
  • The Neutromobile is once erroneously referred to as the "Neutomobile."
  • This is the first issue of the series in which the Gorians' mothership never appears.
