King Kong in the Microcosmos #3 is a comic book by Editorial América, S.A. It was published circa 1979.

Plot

Voltan and Fara escape the lizard's maw by shrinking the reptile with the Molecular Compactor. After scurrying away it is eaten by a comparatively-giant insect. Elsewhere, King Kong finishes removing the last of the nets from his body when he is pounced on by a leopard, which he promptly kills. Colonel Jensen escorts Tom, Julie, and Kalimba back to their camp; Julie questions whether Tom will pursue Kong for the rest of his life, but he assures her that they will depart Africa after a few more days of hunting local wildlife. Kong catches up with the expeditioners hours later and stalks their camp. While in bed that night, Tom promises Julie that he will make a rug for her out of the continent's biggest lion. Meanwhile, Voltan radios a lieutenant aboard the orbiting mothership who informs him that, due to the Sun's weaker energy output compared to their home star Adrana, it will take longer than expected to send them a new ship. Fara asks Voltan about their next move, to which he responds that he has no concrete plans, but would like to try communicating with humans using a translation device called the Sound Channeler. Fara wonders whether it can also be used on Kong.

The next morning, Colonel Jensen arrives at his garrison to find a letter waiting for him. In it, he is informed that radio signals have been detected traveling from the mothership down to the surface, and that he has been assigned to organize an investigation party. Voltan and Fara spot a group of chimpanzees and decide to test the Sound Channeler on them. They successfully establish a dialogue, with one chimp questioning how it can understand them, but the apes are scared away when Voltan answers that it would be beyond their comprehension. At the same time, the expeditioners observe a family of lions dining on a freshly-killed gazelle. The cats disperse when Tom shoots the male, named Numa, in the backside. Determined to have Numa's skin, Tom ignores Kalimba's advice and gives chase. Colonel Jensen and his men arrive at their destination and split up to form a perimeter. Voltan, having heard Tom's distant gunshot, fears for Kong's life and begins driving through a field of flowers. Before Fara can recognize them as carnivorous, one snatches up the Neutromobile in its jaws. Voltan advises that they wait for the plant to reject the vehicle but, as a last resort, is prepared to trigger a potentially-deadly explosion with the Molecular Compactor's inverted setting. Jensen's superior informs him of an incoming shipment of scanning equipment, but admits that it is still undetermined whether the aliens died with their ship, as the wreck's molecules were so compact that examination proved impossible.

As Tom bickers with Kalimba and Julie about his decision to trail Numa, he suddenly finds himself in the lion's claws. Voltan and Fara, still stuck in the flower, prepare to risk their lives with the Compactor, but are relieved to see its mouth begin to open. They set off toward Kong once more, this time at full speed, as Voltan reveals that he saw the ape in danger telepathically. Tom's anticipation of death is allayed when Kong emerges from the bushes and grabs Numa off of him. While Kong wrestles with the beast, Tom returns to his feet and stubbornly declares that he will take the victor as his trophy. A helicopter delivers Jensen's equipment just as Voltan and Fara hit yet another snag: driving into a spider web. The pair are preyed upon by the web's gigantic owner, but manage to free themselves by cranking the Neutromobile's thermostat and burning the web with its red-hot exterior. Kong prevails over Numa and casts aside his lifeless body, then turns his attention to Tom, who opens fire.
