Lightning Bug (ライトニング·バグ is an unused Raitoningu Bagu)kaiju from the 2007 Godzilla game Godzilla: Unleashed. She was one of four contestants in an IGN readers' poll to determine the game's final roster spot, along with The Visitor, Fire Lion, and the victorious Obsidius.
Godzilla: Unleashed Bio
"An experiment to weaponize alien crystal energy goes terribly wrong when a tiny firefly buzzes into the focused energy stream. The fly survives just long enough to lay her eggs in the test facilities cooling ponds. One of the eggs mutates and produces this uber bug."[1].
Development
According to modeler/animator Will Short, "Lightning Bug’s design was a combination of the armor from EVA-01 of Neon Genesis Evangelion fame and the bioluminescent appearance of the Drej from Titan A.E."[1]
Abilities
- The Lightning Bug's wings allow her to hover, shield her from physical and energy attacks, and emit energy blasts.
- An unknown alien race outfitted her with a multi-alloy chasis which provides protection and containment of the unstable energies in her body. It normally glows green, but will turn orange if it is heavily damaged.
- The Lightning Bug can absorb ambient energy from her surroundings.
