He was then discovered by the [[Metalferd]] [[Globe]], who smashed a ceramic pot and the shrapnel injured a patient. Guyferd struck Globe again and broke through his helmet, causing some Fangs to take him away in retreat. Guyferd (ガイファード Gaifādo), real name Go Kazama (風間 剛 Kazama Gō), is an enhanced Guyborg who appears in the 1996 Toho/TV Tokyo tokusatsu series Guyferd.
Guyferd is the secret identity of pacifistic Kenōryū martial arts prodigy Go Kazama, who returned to Japan to search for his missing brother Masato. During his search, he was kidnapped by the evil organization Crown, who gutted his innards and replaced them with a robotic endoskeleton. Unbeknownst to him, he had also been forcibly parasitized by the alien organism Fallah, but rather than it mutating him into a monster as it would typically, it harmonized with him perfectly. Kazama is thus able to attain the Guyferd state, enabling him to transform his ki into powerful energy attacks. Throughout the series, Go and his friends save the world from the threats of Crown and their leader Zodiac, who plans to eliminate all humans on Earth.
Name
The name "Guyferd" is a title given to the hypothetical condition of a human merging perfectly with the alien Fallah, theorized by former Crown researcher Takeo Shiroishi. When he was converted into a Guyborg and mutated with Fallah, Go Kazama took the name of the Guyferd state for his new persona.
Design
As Guyferd, Go sports a red outfit with silver adornments akin to Jet Jaguar and Ultraman. He wears a helmet with three fin-like protrusions and a crystal on the brow. His belt, chest, shoulders, fingers and eyes have a gold color.
History

"The Birth of Guyferd!"
After hearing that his brother Masato Kazama had gone missing, Go Kazama returned to Japan from his five years abroad to look for him. He visited Masato's former Kenouryu kenpo dojo. Unfortunately, the dojo master proved less than helpful and tried to fight Go, who humiliated him even though he had given up fighting. A student named Rei Kujo told him that Masato had been kidnapped, and later on, the master called to apologize and give him a lead on Masato's whereabouts. Unfortunately, he betrayed Go, and he was turned over to Crown: an organization that wanted physically disciplined individuals to convert into Guyborgs. He was stunned with 50,000 volts of electricity and dreamed of Masato trying to fight him before being shattered by his brother's punch. When Go awakens from his sedation, he finds himself wearing a Guyborg's uniform. Crown's leader, Bicross, informed Go that he was now a Guyborg, a soldier to protect the earth. Go stated his desire to decide his fate for himself, before he was shot several times from a gun in the wall, only to discover that he had not been harmed. The facility's power then went out, and he was able to escape, and watched as three other Guyborgs fought an escaping test subject named Jerks, who is really Taki after having been exposed to the mysterious Fallah virus. Jerks destroys the other Guyborgs while Go watches from a short distance. He is soon approached by Takeo Shiroishi, who explained Taki's condition. Jerks then attacks Shiroishi, and Go stepped in to save him. Because he was fighting to save Shiroishi, Go awakened the Guyferd state and defeated Jerks. He and Shiroishi then escaped Crown together.
"In Peril! Go"
Go awakens after a dream about fighting Jerks, causing him to believe that it had all been a dream, but discovers that it was real when he bends the metal bed frame by touching it. He is then approached by Shiroishi, and the two began to discuss why Go did not become a Mutian when exposed to Fallah. They conclude that it is because he and the Fallah are in symbiosis, and that the Fallah activates when he focuses his ki to enter the Guyferd state. The two return to Taki's dojo, where they find Rei and Yu Kujo along with their friend Kido attempting to find clues about Masato's whereabouts. Go teased Rei, which caused her to storm out with Kido and Yu in tow. However, thanks to a business card handed to Shiroishi by Yu, Go knew they were headed for a trap and arrived before their friend was hurt badly. Go began to fight, but refused to transform, knowing that the others were watching. Luckily, Doggross became unable to fight any longer and he was escorted away by two Guyborgs. They then went to search Masato's apartment while the kids followed up a lead with a detective. After discovering a piece of paper from their old Kenoryu dojo, a camera drone entered the room and Go destroyed it by impaling it with a pen. Shiroishi identified it as a Crown Command Sattelite, and they hurry after the kids fearing that Crown was watching them as well. Go and Shiroishi drove after the signals from Crown drones to locate the Kujos at a railyard, located across the river. Go exited the car and ran across the boats in the marina to reach them, and surprised Doggross with a flying kick to the back of the head. Go took several attacks before seeing Shiroishi take the kids away and he attempted to transform into Guyferd. He was unable until Doggross' taunting him and belittling of the human race triggered the transformation. Guyferd hit the Mutian with a star fist and a flurry of fire punches that blasted him back and caused him to explode. Guyferd then collapsed and awoke as Go to Shiroishi and the kids inquiring about Guyferd's whereabouts. Go claimed that he left, and the group went home. There, Shiroishi assured Go that no matter what changes his body went through, as long as he maintained humanity in his heart, he would always be a human.
"Did You See It? The Ultimate Supertransformation!"
While going to see his old Kenouryu master Jimei Isurugi, Go was ambushed atop a dam by a group of Crown's latest goons: the Fangs. He quickly dispatched them, but a new Mutian appeared and introduced himself as Bolguiss. He demanded to see Guyferd's power, but Go was once again unable to transform, which led to him being electrocuted with the Mutian's whips, and ultimately tossed over the dam. He was taken to his master's dojo by two of his disciples, Godo and Yashamaru, and explained to Jimei his predicament. The old master sensed the change in Go's ki, and despite Go's insistence that he is a monster, and a part of him is just seeking his next battle, insists that there is darkness in everyone, and the purpose of Kenouryu is to fight against that, and to help other people by embracing the path of one's destiny. He tells Go of the eight supreme Kenouryu techniques, two of which he has already mastered, and Go begins training with them. While meditating under a waterfall, tormented by jeering images of Jerks, and Doggross, his fear of himself breaks his concentration, forcing him to continue well into the night.
The next day, Go continued training with Jimei, but was soon approached by Yu Kujo who informed him that Crown was planning to blow up the dam, and that Rei and Shiroishi had gone to try and stop them. Go rushed to the site, where he was approached by Bolguiss and an entourage of Fangs. Go quickly bested the warriors, but soon heard his friends calling for help on the other side of the river, where he could not reach them. Bolguiss attacked him again, and the two struggled for some time until Go finally transformed into Guyferd using the ki armor technique. In response to this, Bolguiss took out his electric whips, and Guyferd avoided one blow and was able to wrench one whip away from his opponent. However, Bolguiss was able to trap Guyferd with a whip wrapped around his arm. Although he was unfazed by the electricity, he remained bound as the Mutian counted down to his bomb's detonation. When the dam does not blow up, Guyferd swung the Mutian over his head, and slammed him into the ground before pummeling him with a punishing series of kicks before finishing him off with the "Bakuraiha" technique using his metal ki. He then met up with Jimei's other students, Godo and Yashamaru before returning to see Rei and the others exiting the dam, where Rei accused Go of being careless. Go reminded her that he hadn't asked for anyone to come after him, and bickering fondly from there on.
"Breakout! The Genetic Laboratory"
After Yu Kujo was kidnapped, Go then picked up a trail of ki energy which he, Shiroishi, and Rei followed to a Crown facility where they learned that Yu and the other children were going to be used as test subjects in Crown's experiments. Inside the facility, Go found Megumi Shion who offered to spare the kids if he submitted himself to experimentation. Go, knowing that Shion would only yake him and the kids for her experiments, began to fight Shion, who called out the Mutian Spirass to fight for her. Go defeated the female Mutian, forcing Crown to evacuate their facility.
"Operation Battle Killer"
After Shiroishi rescued a fellow former Crown researcher, Go was charged with watching him as he recovered. The man brought Go out to a mountain overlooking the city, and revealed himself to be Guyborg 801. 801 held Guyferd down while Antaleess monologued before accidentally destroying Guybord 801 and freeing Go, allowing him to transform and defeat him.
"Bloodlust! The Homicidal Sound Waves"
After spying a Mutian in news footage of a truck accident, Go and Shiroishi decided to find it. They were met by Detective Yuji Nakano, who sent them away when they got to the news studio tape room and they were attacked by the Mutian Guilpulss on their way out. Nakano saw this, and they became allies in tracking the Mutian down, and Guyferd defeated it with Nakano's help.
"Crown's Strongest Warrior"
After a dying J-Force soldier begged Go to rescue his teammates, Go enlisted Yu's help in locating them. They tracked the soldiers down to a Crown Facility, and on seeing a roster of people ready to become Mutians, he realized that his brother was inside. After rescuing the prisoners, Guyferd was approached by Bicross, who turned himself into a Mutian by using a small vial of Fallah on himself. Go nearly defeated Bicross, but Deathferd was called in as backup. Go was defeated, but was woken up by his brothe, who had met with Rei Kujo on his way out of the facility and was sent to his brother's location. Masato then revealed to Go that he too was a Guyborg, and they agreed to take down Crown together.
"Confrontation of Destiny!"
After Shiroishi began to question weather or not Masato really was a Guyborg, Go became frustrated with him and said that he was trying to stop them from defeating Crown. They soon learned of Crown's new headquarters and split up to infiltrate it. After defeating Bicross, the brothers prepared to leave, but Masato attacked Go and revealed that he was Deathferd. Deathferd and several Fangs then attacked him, and he did his best not to fight his brother. Deathferd then teleported into the building, and it exploded shortly after. Go broke into tears on the surrounding beach.
"Crown's Ambition!"
After losing Masato, Go fell into a bout of depression. When Rei Kujo tried to comfort him, and Go revealed that he was once again questioning his humanity. Rei assured him that he still had his human heart and, believing that with Crown destroyed he could abandon the Guyferd identity, he prepared to resume his travels. While wandering the city, Go saw a woman that he believes is Megumi Shion, and pursued her. They ended up in the same elevator, and Shion revealed to Go that she had been converted to a Cyborg after the explosion. Shion took go down to Metal Master, the new head of Crown. Metal Master enticed Go to transform, before Crown's true leader, the puppetmaster Zodiac, sent out a Metalferd soldier named Dragos to fight Go, who had lost control of his ki. Zodiac then asked Go to join crown in their quest to eliminate humans to prevent them from destroying the Earth. Dragos defeated Go in his weakened state, but Zodiac told Go to leave to think about his offer. When Go returned to his apartment, he discovered that Dr. Shiroishi had left a note, and deduced that his friends were in danger.
"Protect! A Small Life"
Go accompanied Shiroishi to a local hospital, where one of the last remaining Fallah samples was being held by one of the doctor's former colleagues, but they are quickly refused over personal drama between the two scientists. They remained on the grounds to plan their next move, and Go soon spotted Fangs in an upstairs window and went to engage them. He was then discovered by the Metalferd Globe, who smashed a ceramic pot and the shrapnel injured a patient. Guyferd struck Globe again and broke through his helmet, causing some Fangs to take him away in retreat. Ultimately, Globe later returns with repaired armor while Shiroishi ran to get medicine for the injured patient. Ultimately Guyferd is able to use an energy attack to blast a hole through Globe's torso. Afterward, Go and Shiroishi leave before the operation is complete, with the doctor now reassured in his ability to create positive change.
Abilities
Kenoryu mastery
Early in the series, Guyferd becomes a master of the Kenoryu (拳王流 Kenōryū) style of kenpo, and is taught the eight supreme techniques of the discipline.
Gaikiso
The Gaikiso (鎧気装 Gaikisō) technique allows the user to use their life force to form a defensive barrier around themselves. Go is able to use it to transform into Guyferd at will.
Kyokuseiken
The Kyokuseiken (極星拳) attack is one of two techniques Go mastered before leaving Kenouryu for a time. It is the supreme technique associated with star ki, and it is Guyferd's favored finishing blow.
Rekkageki
Rekkageki (烈火撃) is the second technique Go mastered before the start of the series. It uses fire ki to deliver a flurry of rapid punches before a finishing blow with his right fist.
Jiraishin
Jiraishin (地雷震) uses earth ki to deliver a crushing kick upside the head at blinding speed.
Fukaranbu
Fukaranbu (風花乱舞 Fūkaranbu) allows Guyferd to use wood ki to repeatedly execute a drop kick attack on his opponent.
Bakuraiha
Bakuraiha (爆雷破) utilizes metal ki, allowing Guyferd to use the air currents to deliver a flying drop kick against his opponents.
Saigekishu
Saigekishu (砕撃蹴 Saigekishū) involves Guyferd using water ki to unleash a drop kick that severely wounds opponents.
Gekiryusho
Gekiryusho (撃竜衝 Gekiryūshō) utilizes air ki, allowing Guyferd to deliver a destructive ‘cross’ karate chop attack.
Rengeki Kyokuseiken
Used in the final episode of the series, Rengeki Kyokuseiken (連撃極星拳) is the combination of Guyferd's and Deathferd's Kyokuseiken attacks, uniting their star ki.
