Warbats are winged snake-like monsters who will appear in Legendary Pictures' 2021 film Godzilla vs. Kong. Playmates' tie-in toyline for the film describes them as "venom-winged monsters that hunt the hidden depths of the Hollow Earth."[2]

Name

The Warbats' original name was Nozuki, as revealed on early leaked packaging for the Playmates figure.[1] Walmart receipts for the figure also used the Nozuki name.[3]

Design

Warbats resemble giant snakes or serpents, with long thin bodies and grey-brown skin. They possess several reddish flaps of flesh around their midsection which spiral around their bodies and connect to large wings. They have large eagle-like brows like Godzilla and large crocodilian faces with reptilian scales.

History

MonsterVerse

Godzilla vs. Kong

The Apex team encountered a pair of Warbats while on an expedition following Kong inside the Hollow Earth. One of the Warbats destroyed one of the HEAVs (Hollow Earth Anti-Gravity Vehicle) and then attempted to devour Jia, Ilene Andrews and Nathan Lind before being killed by Kong. The ape then swings the Titan's lifeless corpse into another attacking Warbat, temporarily staggering the creature.

The Warbat quickly recovers and lunges after Kong, coiling its body around him before attempting to constrict him. The Apex expedition crew inside the HEAV fires a barrage of missiles along the Warbat's back, causing it to loosen its grip around Kong. In a quick battle, Kong subdues the Titan before breaking its wings and brutally pummeling it to death. Kong then tears the creature's head off and drinks the green blood leaking out, before tossing it aside and continuing his journey through the Hollow Earth.
