- Do not confuse with Erika Shiragami, a character from Godzilla vs. Biollante.
Erika (エリカ) is a dryad-like humanoid plant who first appeared in episode 10 of the third season of Godziban. She is the offspring of the kaiju Biollante.
Name
Erika is named after Erika Shiragami, whose DNA contributed to the creation of Biollante in Godzilla vs. Biollante. Concept art for her simply referred to her as Biollante Girl (ビオランテの娘. Biorante no Musume)[1]
Development
Erika was designed by artist Shiu Yoshijima, who previously did title card and bumper illustrations for Godziban. Her puppet was produced by Kanae Anami with supervision from Hideyuki Kobayashi.[1]
Design
Erika resembles a human girl, but with green skin. She has vegetation in place of hair, decorated with a pink rose which resembles the head of Biollante's Flower Beast form. She has vines which wrap around her arms and torso. Erika's legs are obscured by plant roots which extend from her midsection, many of which end with mouths like those possessed by Biollante. When distressed, Erika takes on a form identical to Flower Beast Biollante.
History
Godziban
"A Flower Blooms in the Dark"
When Little found himself trapped in a ravine, he stumbled upon a mysterious flower growing in the darkness. He used his atomic breath bubbles to give the plant some extra light, helping it to bloom. The flower then revealed her true self as the dryad Erika. She healed Little's injuries from the fall and explained that she grew from a seed that came from a far off forest and, being rooted to the bottom of the pit, could only survive on what little light she had. She then wrapped Little in her vines to share what memories she had of the Bio Forest she originally came from and how it came under attack from Desghidorah long ago. When Minilla and Godzilla-kun arrived, they initially thought she was attacking Little before Minilla was able to catch on that she wasn't doing anything to harm their brother. When Minilla discovered a set of mushrooms in the ravine, they revealed themselves as a pair of Matango that also came from the Bio Forest and proceeded to send the brothers to the island to help Biollante fight Desghidorah.
