Green Lantern (Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong 2 #5)

The Ultima-Lantern is a giant Green Lantern construct that appears in the Monsterverse crossover comic series Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong 2. After the arrival of Ghidorah and Rodan, Green Lantern formed this construct around himself to help Godzilla and the Justice League combat the Titans.

Design

Ultima-Lantern's design is heavily inspired on some Tokusatsu heroes, such as Ultraman or Zone Fighter. It has a muscular build and is covered in armored skin, with a metallic seatbelt around the waist. The head is a pointed shape, almost identical to a water drop. The Green Lantern Logo is visible on the chest.

History

Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong 2

Issue 5

As Ghidorah and Rodan arrive, Godzilla, Primal Superman and the rest of the Justice League start clashing with each other. When Superman is grabbed by Rodan's talons, Green Lantern transforms into Ultima-Lantern and helps by grabbing and restraining one of Ghidorah's heads.

After Godzilla frees the middle head of Ghidorah, it charges directly at the Ultima-Lantern and bites its arm, cracking the armor. Soon afterwards, Godzilla swipes Ghidorah away with his tail and Ultima Lantern is left injured on the ground. While Mister Terrific tries to find a way to reproduce the Titan serum, the Monitor shows the Ultima Lantern being hit by Ghidorah's right head's gravity beams, causing him to fall to the ground. After Kong arrives and punches Rodan away to save Superman, Ultima-Lantern catches Superman with a projection of a baseball glove. As Kong lands on the ground with Rodan's body, the Ultima Lantern thanks Kong for saving them and comments that there are now three of them against the three heads of Ghidorah. As the three of them start to clash, Ultima projects a giant hammer to replace his left hand and strikes Ghidorah's right head with it. Ultima, Kong and Superman then restrain Ghidorah, allowing Godzilla to shoot his atomic breath directly into its chest and harm the titan. However, as they continue to restrain Ghidorah, the Titan serum suddenly stops working, allowing Ghidorah to strike back and beam Ultima Lantern with its left head.

As Ghidorah flies into the sky again, all three of its heads shoot gravity beams at the same time, harming both Kong and Ultima Lantern. Godzilla is also hit by the gravity beams, while Rodan picks up Kong. Mister Terrific then arrives with his flying bombs and a gas tube containing the Titan serum, which distracts Ghidorah. He is subsequently hit by the flying bombs. The same bombs eventually hit Rodan, causing him to drop Kong into a Hollow Earth portal. As Ghidorah and Rodan approach the Justice League, Ultima Lantern is seen lying on the ground. Before they can be attacked, Ghidorah and Rodan fly away. After the two Titans have flown away, Green Lantern transforms back into his original form and complains about what has just happened.

Abilities

Strength

Ultima-Lantern was able to hold and restrain one of Ghidorah's heads, specifically the right one.

Green Lantern Proprieties

As Ultima-Lantern is a projection of Green Lantern itself, it possesses the same projection properties as its wielder. The first time it was used to project something was to save the Titanized Superman from falling from the sky, when it projected a baseball glove to catch him. The second time, he switched his left hand for a giant hammer with which to strike Ghidorah.

Durability

Ultima-Lantern realizes that one of Ghidorah's heads has bitten his arm, although the crack disappears later in the same issue. Even when severely injured, Ultima-Lantern is able to withstand Ghidorah's gravity beams.
