Kongkrete (テッキンコング,   Tekkinkongu) is a living building Titan that appeared in the 2022 video game, GigaBash. It is a mysterious Titan that made its first appearance in Tokyo on an unknown date, manifesting in areas where Giga Energy is most concentrated. Implied to have been formed unintentionally by Gigaman, the living building stalks the hero constantly, watching him battle Titans from a distance while otherwise functioning like regular infrastructure.

Name

Kongkrete's name is a pun playing on a portmanteau of "Kong" and "concrete". Its Japanese name, "Tekkinkongu" (テッキンコング), similarly combines the concrete-reinforcing "rebar" (鉄筋,   tekkin) with "King Kong" (キングコング,   Kingu Kongu).

Development

As a living building that can fight back against other monsters, Kongkrete was envisioned to subvert the trope of kaiju city destruction.[2] Different concepts experimented with giving it arms, though all known iterations lacked legs. Its eyes were also experimentally placed on other parts of itself, like on its water tank, a billboard, a small section between floors, and even on a digital screen. Its body was conceptualized with a variety of shapes, some slimmer, wider, taller, or shorter than the rest. The final concept ended up being that of a limbless, cube-shaped building with six floors and a mouth.

Design

Kongkrete is a gray square building with advertising signs on both sides, a black water tank on its roof, and blue-tinted windows, two of which are lit to form its expressive eyes. The building is able to open the top part of its body to reveal a chest-like mouth. This results in a formation of "teeth" at the front, with two at the bottom of the mouth and one at the top. As it becomes more damaged, cracks will become visible, and in some occasions, it even loses the glow of its eyes.

In its S-Class form, its mouth cracks open with a light blue glow. While performing its ultimate, Kongkrete transforms into an enormous, black-paneled, rectangular skyscraper hovering on thrusters at its base. In both its S-Class and skyscraper form, Kongkrete doubles its floors from six to twelve.

Personality

The Kongkretes appear to be mostly elusive, moving when they are least likely to be observed. During Rawa's "Ascension" event, however, Kongkretes and other Titans all over the world went berserk.

One urban Kongkrete specimen is implied to have once been a human who was a big fan of Gigaman, set to portray him in a film. For this reason, this Kongkrete can be seen blending in with the rest of the city, watching Gigaman battle other Titans from a distance. It is unknown if it is due to lingering idolization, or calculated observation for planned revenge due to Gigaman accidentally merging him with a building, thus creating him.

Kongkrete is able to pick up on the skills of those it observes, such as Gorogong's Dive Smash.

Origins

First sighted on an unknown date, Kongkrete is a peculiar building theorized to be alive by some people who appears wherever Giga Energy is most concentrated.

During the climax of "Gigamania", when Gigaman was the subject of pop culture fanaticism, a film, "Rise of Gigaman" was planned. Among these big fans was an unknown actor, previously only appearing as an extra in several popular TV dramas, hired to portray his idol. For the sake of secrecy, the production team kept his identity a secret, with details being slowly revealed to hype up the film as a form of marketing. One weekend, however, a Titan attacked the film set, with Gigaman himself jumping into action to stop it. In the chaos, the hero shot his reflective beam off of a building, causing its windows to glow, as if in response. During the event, the lead actor of the "Rise of Gigaman", who was last seen near the diorama of the aforementioned building, went missing. By the next day, the building that Gigaman's beam bounced off of went missing, leaving a square crater in its wake, and causing some speculation that the structure sunk into the ground. Even as investigations continued, the film's staff refused to disclose the identity of the missing actor, with military personnel, implied to have had a stake in the film, aiding the coverup.

In the years that followed, even after Gigaman retired, the same building kept moving from neighborhood to neighborhood, sometimes taking root in unexpected places like forests, and even appearing in its skyscraper form next to the OtomaTEC headquarters one midnight.

Because of its origins, Kongkrete is the only Titan that possesses an energy signature similar to Gaya, the entity that gave Sho the power to become Gigaman, unlike all other known Titans who derive their power from the essence of Zargorah. However, it appears that this building is not the only one of its kind, or even the first of its kind, as specimens can be seen in other places, like the two found in Palekana Port, Luana Island, their own origins unexplained.

A Legend Reborn

In Palekana Port, Thundatross pilot Yuuki Otoma scolded Gigaman for letting Gorogong escape and questioned why the hero follows him around. Gigaman stated he was merely following the action, though when Yuuki asked why Gigaman returned now, the Champion of Justice was cut off by Rawa's distant roar. Suddenly, a disguised Kongkrete in front of them woke up and roared, while a second flew by and slammed into Thundatross. Gigaman fought off the first Kongkrete (with one bewildered citizen exclaiming that Gigaman is fighting his apartment) while Thundatross soon pushed the second Kongkrete back and joined the fight, stating that they should double-check every building to ensure there were no other Kongkretes. Gaya mused about the Titan frenzy being "his doing" just as the two heroes triumphed over both Kongkretes.

Abilities

Physical abilities

Because it lacks limbs of any sort, Kongkrete strikes by rapidly biting and grabbing enemies with its jagged "mouth". For stronger attacks, Kongkrete tends to body slam Titans by sliding and rushing into them with its basement or rooftop, pounding the ground in a technique called "Dive Smash" (a technique copied from Gorogong), rolling itself towards them to crush them (being resistant to light attacks when doing so), and even by flipping and rotating its parts vertically or horizontally, as shown in its aerial attack, "Twisting Brick", and even in one taunt, "I can solve this!", where it acts like a giant Rubik's Cube.

Matter Generation and Construction

Kongkrete is capable of coughing three random objects out of its mouth in order to damage enemies, including various vehicles (most devastating of which are explosive gas trucks), building debris, and giant spinning gears that deal multiple hits like sawblades. Kongkrete can also spit non-damaging objects like Giga Energy orbs which can be absorbed by itself or others, as well as confetti, as seen in its taunt "Ta Da!" Though Kongkrete's item pool is randomized, all three items spat out at a time are identical. The attack is known "Blunder Bus" (a pun on blunderbuss, a predecessor of the shotgun, due to its scattering shots and occasional vehicle spitting) when done forwards, and "Blunder... Fountain!" when used upwards (though the latter technique never produces Giga Energy balls).

Furthermore, by being able to form scaffolding from nothing, Kongkrete can transform into S-Class and its ultimate skyscraper form, though it can also weaponize this ability to trap enemy Titans in a building with rocket thrusters, set to explode after a short delay. Conversely, Kongkrete can replenish its health by biting buildings, feeding on their materials to reconstruct itself.

Aside from relying on the random generation of its "Blunder Bus", Kongkrete can produce Giga Energy (albeit unusable as a power source) by emitting a blinding flash of it from its windows to disorient enemies (reversing their controls in-game), as seen in its block attack, "Confusion Flash", and the end of its ultimate, "Scrape the Skies".

Mobility

Despite its size and mass, Kongkrete is able to quickly rush forward with its charged attack, "Basement Kick", or its dash attack, "Face Plant", where it smashes its face downwards, sliding forward roof-first. Kongkrete can also roll forward, crushing and dragging enemies with its charged special, "Concrete Roller" (being resistant to at least one weak attack while rolling forward), its window-covered surfaces leaving grid-like tracks in its wake. Kongkrete can burrow through the ground to quickly travel from place to place. One of Kongkrete's reports states that massive sinkholes have been discovered in locations where mysterious buildings have appeared, and it enters battlefields by rising out of the ground.

While using its ultimate, Kongkrete gains the ability to fly using rocket thrusters. The blast of these thrusters damage and throw off enemies on contact. It also forms these thrusters under the explosive buildings it constructs around enemy titans.

Intelligence

Kongkrete prefers to observe from afar and remain camouflaged, primarily stalking to Gigaman as he battles other titans. It is unknown if this is out of self-preservation, the preference to avoid pandemonium and harm, concern for other humans (for it once was one), if it is simply timid and preferring to avoid attention regardless, or if it even has anything to do with any possible lingering human memories and intelligence.

Kongkrete is able to adapt what it sees in others, as it reportedly learned how to "Dive Smash" by observing Gorogong.[3]

Camouflage

If Kongkrete stays still for a few seconds, its lights turn off and its combat user interface disappears, allowing Kongkrete to blend seamlessly with other buildings. Because Kongkrete is formed out of a true building, it can still function like one, as people are able to safely enter and exit it while it is disguised. Furthermore, two of Kongkrete's taunts, "Hoppity" and "Adapt!", cause it to change its appearance to a random unlocked subspecies, though which one specifically is predetermined prior to a match.

S-Class

After gathering a sufficient amount of Giga Energy, Kongkrete can form scaffolding around itself before fully reconstructing its body into a larger, 12-story building, gaining great power and enhanced abilities. Giga Energy is gathered through dealing damage to other Titans or gathering it from the surrounding environment.

Scrape the Skies

Kongkrete constructs itself into a massive 12-floor skyscraper, hovering off the ground before repeatedly slamming down, leaving glowing smiley faces on the ground. Enemies smashed by the attack end up getting stuck to Kongkrete's face, preventing them from escaping subsequent slams, until Kongkrete finishes the move by blasting them away with "Confusion Flash", its outer layers disintegrating as it returns to its previous state afterwards.

Weaknesses

Kongkrete can be knocked out of its camouflage if it is attacked. At low health, it bears visible cracks as its entire body constantly quivers, therefore preventing it from remaining still to disguise itself properly. Kongkretes can also be provoked into anger, as proven when two individuals in Palekana Port went berserk due to Rawa instigating the "Ascension" event with his roars.

Trivia

I've Had Enough! achievement
  • Kongkrete is the only base game Titan who is unlocked through a method outside of beating Story Mode, by earning the achievement "I've Had Enough!", which is earned when the player destroys a high amount of buildings in any game mode.
  • Kongkrete was the only base game Titan introduced in GigaBash which did not appear in a Story Mode campaign until Gigaman's story, A Legend Reborn, was added in the 2026 Final Ascension DLC.
    • Even then, it exclusively appears as its Resort subspecies in A Legend Reborn, making it the only Titan to appear solely via a non-default subspecies in a Story Mode campaign.
  • Kongkrete has one of the smallest number of subspecies out of all of GigaBash's original Titans, at six, second to only all the Godzilla, Gamera, and Ultra Series guest characters, which have four each.
    • Unlike every other character in the game, all six of Kongkrete's subspecies have unique models.
  • Kongkrete is one of the only Titans capable of healing themselves via attacks, the other two being Skorak and Destoroyah. Unlike the other two, Kongkrete does not heal by attacking enemy Titans.
  • Despite being derived from Gaya's energy as opposed to Zargorah's, Kongkretes can still be driven berserk by Rawa's "Ascension" event. Due to Rawa's vastly superior power, the Kongkretes of Palekana Port may have been unable to resist the call to rampage. It is possible that these Kongkretes do not share the same origin as their counterpart from the Kimura District of Tokyo, and it is also conceivable that these specific ones derived their essence from Zargorah instead.
