Disclaimer: Godzilla Ultima is not confirmed to be the same individual as Godzilla Aquatilis and Amphibia. They are covered under the same page for convenience.

Godzilla (ゴジラ,   Gojira) is a name given to several kaiju forms in the 2021 Toho animated series, Godzilla Singular Point. Godzilla Aquatilis (ゴジラアクアティリス,   Gojira Akuatirisu), a fully aquatic Godzilla, was first teased in episode 3 of the series and later appeared unobscured in episode 6. Aquatilis evolves into a transitional stage, Godzilla Amphibia (ゴジラアンフィビア,   Gojira Anfibia) in episode 7. Godzilla Ultima (ゴジラウルティマ,   Gojira Urutima), a more terrestrial Godzilla, is confirmed to appear in the series but has not yet debuted; its relation to Aquatilis and Amphibia is yet unclear.

Regarded in Nigashio legend as the sea monster "Gojira," Godzilla was prophesied to bring the end of the world when the seas were stained red. The monster was first discovered by the crew of a submarine who had been stalked by it half a mile under the sea. When a school of Manda appeared in the waters off the coast of the Boso Peninsula, Godzilla followed them to Tokyo Bay, evading a Navy blockade in the process. Aquatilis came ashore in Tokyo, evolving into Godzilla Amphibia and continuing on through the city.

Name

The name "Godzilla" is an official English transliteration of the name Gojira. A combination of the Japanese words gorira (ゴリラ), meaning gorilla, and kujira (鯨), meaning whale, it was given to the creature from the original due to one of the film's concepts describing it as "a cross between a gorilla and a whale."

An ancient depiction of the folklore creature Gojira spells his name in kanji as 古史羅, incorporating the Japanese word for "ancient history": koshi (古史). This spelling differs from that used for Godzilla in the 1954 film and Shin Godzilla, which was written 呉爾羅 but pronounced the same. Because 古史 is typically pronounced koshi rather than goji in modern Japanese, Mei Kamino and Yun Arikawa both misread the name as "Koshira."

The names of Godzilla Ultima, Godzilla Aquatilis and Godzilla Amphibia were all first revealed on their Bandai Movie Monster Series figures; none have yet been named within the series itself. Prior to episode 6's airing, the series' official website listed Aquatilis as simply "???."[2] Ultima and aquatilis are both Latin words, the former a form of ultimus meaning "last," and the latter meaning "aquatic." Amphibia is likely derived from the Greek amphibion, or Latin amphibium.

Prior to the government designating Aquatilis as "Godzilla," he was referred to simply as a giant organism (巨大生物). The Singular Point website's description for him instead calls him a Super Giant Lifeform (超巨大生命体,   Chō Kyodai Seimeitai).

Japanese fans have nicknamed this Godzilla GyuraGoji (ギュラゴジ), which is derived from Singular Point's title, specifically "Singular" (シンギュラ,   Shingyura), and Godzilla's Japanese name, Gojira (ゴジラ).

Design

Main article: GyuraGoji.

Godzilla Ultima resembles a massive, dinosaurian creature with large maple leaf-shaped dorsal plates on his back, segmented armored skin, small eyes, and pronounced fangs. His appearance is reminiscent of a theropod dinosaur, having digitigrade legs and a slightly horizontal posture. His mouth is very large, and is lined with multiple rows of sharp teeth.

Godzilla Aquatilis resembles a cross between Godzilla and Titanosaurus, with influences from Mosasaurus. He possesses an elongated body with red skin, a beige underbelly and orange accents along its Godzilla-esque dorsal fins. Aquatilis has peculiar, fin-like forelimbs which are adorned with several claws. His overall face shape resembles that of Godzilla Ultima, but with antennae similar to Titanosaurus', fins protruding from either cheek, and a single larger fin sitting atop his head. He also has a long tail which terminates with a splayed fin.

Godzilla Amphibia strongly resembles Varan crossed with Godzilla. In this form, his tail now has three barbs instead of a splayed fin while his hindlegs are smaller than his forelegs. His head strongly resembles Varan's while a row of Godzilla-esque dorsal fins are carried over from his Aquatilis form, though are framed with Varan-esque spikes on the neck and tail. Like Varan, his back is covered in a knobby scaled carapace, with these scales also running along his limbs, with his underbelly being smoothly textured.

Godzilla's third form strongly resembles Gorosaurus crossed with Godzilla. In this form, he has green skin with a yellow underbelly, an elongated face with a large lower jaw and eyes set very forward on his skull close to the snout.

History

Reiwa era

Godzilla Singular Point

"Tigerish"

900 meters beneath the sea, a large creature was detected moving swiftly on the radar of a nearby submarine. An operator onboard confirmed that the creature was screeching at the sub, and soon began approaching it rapidly.

"Enfatico"

Godzilla Aquatilis, while hunting a swarm of Manda, encountered a JMSDF blockade. The monster leapt over the ships and continued after the Manda.

"Omniarch"

Godzilla Aquatilis made landfall in Tokyo, engaging in a brief struggle with one of the Manda. After killing it, he took on a second, transitional form better suited to terrestrial environments.

"Graftage"

Godzilla Amphibia engaged in a brief battle against the military. As soon as the tanks stopped firing, Godzilla released a flammable vapor freezing the area of where it breathed. When a tank shell hit Godzilla's face, the blast was absorbed into a vapor causing it to explode and create a giant mushroom cloud reaching a height of 500 meters. Godzilla was burnt, but created a shell of his second form and began evolving once more inside of it.

Abilities

Atomic breath

Godzilla fires his atomic breath

Like almost all Godzilla incarnations, Godzilla Ultima can fire his signature atomic breath. This ability has been seen since his third form.

Amphibiousness

Godzilla Aquatilis is an adept swimmer, able to traverse the sea at speeds of at least 50 knots but can reach speeds of 80 knots, while Godzilla Amphibia and Ultima are both able to travel on land.

Pressure resistance

In addition to Godzilla Aquatilis' high maneuverability, it is able to withstand significant underwater pressure, stalking a submarine at depths of 900 meters.

Evolution

Godzilla Aquatilis was able to assume a second, amphibious form after making landfall in Japan. Shortly after, Godzilla Amphibia formed a cocoon around himself.

Flammable ice vapor

Godzilla Amphibia can breath a flammable vapor that has a temperature of -20 degrees. If ignited by an explosion, the vapor creates a massive explosion about 500 meters tall. Following the explosion, Godzilla froze in place, with his skin becoming charcoal black in color. It's stated in the same chapter that it's just a temporal effect, like a chrysalis, in order to "save" himself.

Durability

Godzilla Amphibia has shown a great amount of resistance to Type 16 maneuver combat vehicle gunfire, not even being fazed by being struck in the face and other parts of his body. In his third form, it's revealed that he has an ability similar to the Anguirus one, with the difference of, only reducing the damage against powerful weapons, seeing him bleeding a bit with the impact of the missiles.

Red dust production

In both his Aquatilis and Amphibia form, Godzilla expels large amounts of archetype from his skin in the form of red dust, forming a dense cloud around him. As seen in the trailers, his Ultima form likely has this ability as well.

Extendable Arms

In his third stage, Godzilla can extend his arms twice their length.

Blood Tentacles

From his wounds, Godzilla was able to extend the blood into a tentacle like formation, able to grab a missile out of the air and smothering it's explosion.

Roar

The roar that Aquatilis makes before he evolves into his terrestrial form was a altered T.rex roar from Jurassic Park that is mixed with Toho King Kong/Gaira roar which was faintly heard when he walks on land while eating Manda. When he evolves to Amphibia, he reuses Varan's roars.

When using the flammable ice vapor, he reuses the first Godzilla's roar.

When the creature reaches it's third form, it utters the 1984 Godzilla roar. When struck with missiles, it releases the Varan/Gorosaurus/Baragon roar before turning it into a normal Godzilla roar.

Godzilla Ultima’s roar seems to be a combination of the roar used by the Heisei Godzilla from The Return of Godzilla and the roar used by the Millennium Era Godzilla incarnations.
