Hercules, also known as Heracles, is the demi-god of strength and heroes in ancient Greek Mythology and Roman culture. He appears in Marvel Comics' Godzilla issue 3 and in IDW Publishing's Godzilla: Here There Be Dragons II - Sons of Giants issue 5.

Name

In the continuity of Marvel Comics' Earth-616, which includes Godzilla, Hercules was originally named Alcaeus before his mother, Alcmene, renamed him Herakles, which translates to "Glory of Hera", to appease the jealous namesake Goddess. At some point, he renamed himself a second time, permanently taking up the name Hercules.

In the continuity of IDW Publishing's comic series Godzilla: Here There Be Dragons and the sequel that he debuts in, Hercules is simply referred to as Hercules.

Appearance
