The cave bear is a fictional ursine monster based upon the extinct bear species Ursus spelaeus that first appeared in the 1933 King Kong film Son of Kong.

Design[edit | edit source]

The cave bear is at its core, a representation of a bear, with no real distinctions from extant bear species, or the extinct species upon which it was based. It has small eyes, dark fur, claws, and sharp teeth.

History[edit | edit source]

Son of Kong[edit | edit source]

After spotting Carl Denham and Hilda Petersen in its Skull Island domain, a cave bear chased them out of the jungle and into temple ruins, Kiko, son of the late Kong heard the screams of Hilda Peterson. The two engaged in battle, and the cave bear was ultimately defeated.
